Lobster Roll

We just got back from Cape Cod. This was our first time on the Cape and we loved it. We stayed at Brewster Green Resort in the town of Brewster. The resort itself was a good size and in a good location; they could have made a better effort on cleanliness though.

The town of Brewster sits on what is called The Lower Cape. Our location was close enough to the rest of the towns that make up The Cape. The beach area was very nice and very clean. Most of The Cape is very "Bike Friendly" and the Cape Cod Rail Trail was an easy ride from our condo.

Compared to The Outer Banks in NC, The Cape had a more "small town" feel. I liked the fact that it didn't feel as commercialized. There were plenty of small shops, galleries, ice cream shops and seafood places. We made it a point to try out as many seafood joints we could. Marathon Seafood in the town of Dennis was a standout. Our overall favorite has to be "Sir Cricket's Fish and Chips" in Orleans; 5 mins from our Condo. Attached to The Nauset Lobster Pool; this little place had the best lobster rolls, fried scallops, fried clams and well...fried anything. Everyting was so fresh and well prepared.

Because all the little towns are seperated, you have to do some driving to explore. ...and we did lots of driving. Hyannis was easily the most commercial and populated. Good to go to if you want to see some civilization and the big mall.

Provincetown is very quirky and funky. Full of small shops and eateries. A fun little town, even in the rain!

There is definetly a lot going on in this little town. It reminded me of New Hope, PA but busier and more compact.

The other outlaying towns like Sandwich, Barnstable, Falmouth and Chatham all had the "small town" feel. Each town had someting interesting to offer. We checked out a few of the 365 ponds on the cape.

These ponds are fairly large and have all sorts of activities.

Martha's Vinyard is a must see.

We took the Island Queen from Falmouth Harbor.

Once we arrived ashore, we took the bus tour of the whole island. Our guide showed us the big landmarks and lots of good history. He also told us stories about the local people...celebrities and alike.

The tour was worth it for us because it was our first time on the island. Now we know where to go next time.

I am now a big fan of The Cape and I hope we get the chance to return sometime soon. In the week we spent there, I don't think we saw half of what it had to offer. We didn't get a chance to visit Nantucket, so that's next on our list. I can't wait to go back. I already miss the Lobster Rolls and Fried Clams...yum!
